Phillips concedes in NY22 race, sets up Tenney/Brindisi rematch in November

first_imgWith a Tenney victory, the former member of the New York State Assembly will try to retake the New York 22nd Congressional District that she held before Anthony Brindisi unseated her. In the statement, Phillips said, “I am sad that election night results did not go our way but most grateful to all of our supporters. There were over 15,000 absentee ballot requests in our district. Our team worked these absentee ballots extremely hard and I am confident that we will make up votes but I am afraid it will not be enough. I wish Claudia Tenney the best and success as Republicans try to take back the House of Representatives in the fall.” BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Hours after republican congressional candidate Claudia Tenney declared victory in the New York 22nd Congressional District primary, her opponent conceded the race. In 2018, Brindisi narrowly defeated Tenney with nearly 51% of the total vote.center_img George Phillips, who fell behind Tenney by 8,700 votes on Tuesday, issued a statement despite the large number of absentee ballots that have yet to be counted. The General Election will be held on November 3, 2020.last_img read more

Revealed! The reason behind Sam Allardyce’s expected departure from West Ham, according to former boss Gianfranco Zola

first_imgGianfranco Zola believes Sam Allardyce’s negative style of play is behind his expected removal as West Ham manager. The Hammers chief’s contract expires at the end of the season, and neither side appear interested in renewing the relationship.Allardyce has faced criticism from some sections of fans for his perceived negative style of play and was close to losing his job last summer. And former Upton Park boss Zola claims the former Bolton and Blackburn man has failed to impress the West Ham faithful.“Normally people don’t look at the first half of the season, they only look at the end of it,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.“Over the last fourteen games, West Ham have not done very well. That’s the problem with Sam.“He did fantastically well at the beginning of the season though. Sometimes there was a difficult relationship between the way Sam played and the sort of football West Ham supporters wanted to see.“I know how important the style of football is for West Ham fans. That might be the biggest problem to overcome. I don’t know what’s going to happen.“Nobody can question whether Sam Allardyce has done a good job for the club though.”last_img read more
