The successful candidate will have an MD orequivalent, have completed an accredited cardiothoracic fellowship,be board certified/eligible in thoracic surgery, and be eligiblefor a Wisconsin medical license. The incumbent will be expected toplay a dynamic role in the expansion of the Thoracic program. Thesuccessful candidate will have a strong focus on a clinicalpractice in general thoracic surgery delivering high-qualitypatient care, development of a scholarly clinical or basic scienceresearch program, and teaching medical students, residents, andfellows. Expertise in minimally invasive techniques (VATS and/orrobotics) and a willingness to participate in our lung transplantand ECMO programs are mandatory. In addition to teaching medicalstudents and general surgery residents, the new department memberwill instruct fellows in our ACGME-approved traditionalcardiothoracic training program. This position is expected to workwith colleagues in the Department of Surgery and throughout theMedical School and University to develop productive researchrelationships, which result in national presentations andpublications.
