Their mom Jennifer Merwin said the idea to take part came from an initiative by a soccer store in Prince George.“We were in Prince George and we were at The Players Bench. They have a program going on that collects cleats to go to Africa. When Tanner heard that he got really excited. It was funny because his younger brother needed soccer cleats and he would not let Jett wear them. He said he wanted to donate them to Africa instead,” she explained. She added that they’ll be making a trip down to the community towards the end of the month to drop off the cleats that they have collected.- Advertisement -“Tanner is 12 and Jett is nine. They decided that they wanted to do this together but it was Tanner who originally decided that this is what he wanted to do. We go down to Prince George on a regular basis and we’re going at the end of August on the 29th. Whatever we have before the 29th we’re going to bring down. If we end up with more after that, then whenever we go down to Prince George we’re going to bring them,” she said.Anyone with spare cleats and wanting to help Tanner and Jett with sending cleats down to Africa can do so by contacting Jennifer Merwin at 250-785-0432, or 250-261-1890.
