Donation helps patients breathe easy

Photo: ICU Nurse Neil Evans (right) tests out the new piece of equipment on ‘acting patient’ Ashley Bentley from the Hospital Foundation (left) – submitted.The Fort St. John Hospital has received a large donation to help purchase a vital piece of health care equipment.The TB Vets Charitable Foundation recently donated $5000 for the purchase of a Respironics BiPap Machine.- Advertisement -BiPap is a form of assisted ventilation that helps patients with chronic lung disease or other illnesses.The device moves air in and out of patient’s lungs without the muscular effort normally associated with breathing.The equipment is especially important in the ER and ICU departments of the Fort St. John Hospital.In 2006 TB Vets Charitable Foundation provided funding for an oximeter and accessories and in 2007 they provided funds for a portable ventilator.Advertisementlast_img
