Bournemouth on high alert as Monaco reveal Berbatov can leave for free

first_img Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov Bournemouth are among a number of Premier League clubs to have been put on red alert after Monaco announced they would not be renewing the contract of Dimitar Berbatov.The former Manchester United and Tottenham man joined the French club back in January 2014 after he was released by Fulham.Since then the striker has scored 13 goals in Ligue 1 – more than any other Monaco player.However, it has not been enough to see his contract renewed with the Bulgarian now available for free this summer.Bournemouth have already been linked with a move for the 34-year-old, although his wage demands could prove to be a stumbling block.Berbatov was reportedly on over £100,000-a-week at Monaco and he is unlikely to want to see that amount drop by much. 1last_img
