Ontario’s William almost scored right back when he tripped after breaking free on the kickoff return, then fumbled a few plays later on the Jurupa 2-yard line for a turnover. However, after Ontario’s defense stopped Jurupa, William redeemed himself with a 4-yard touchdown run with 2:07 left in the game that put Ontario up for good 15-13. Ontario head coach Nick Baiz said “turnovers hurt us” and praised Jurupa’s effort, saying, “They battled. They were a scrappy team.” Jurupa started to come back in the second quarter, relying heavily on Junior quarterback Jesus Rubio in the air and on the ground. He capped a long drive on a 7-yard touchdown run with 5:07 left in the second. But the extra point was blocked and the score was 9-6 Ontario at the half. Both teams struggled offensively in the second half until Jurupa finally scored on a 2-yard run by Rubio with 11:55 left in the fourth quarter. Rory Payne added the extra point and Jurupa took a 13-9 lead.
