Committee approves Rep Victorys bill to create the Water Asset Management Council

first_img The Michigan House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee today approved legislation introduced by state Rep. Roger Victory to create a nine-member Water Asset Management Council.The Water Asset Management Council will have nonprofit, public and private members who have expertise in water, sewer, and storm water containment, treatment and disbursement policies.  The goal is to better assist water asset management plans for all water-related agencies and integrate assets for the future of Michigan’s water infrastructure.“The Water Asset Management Council will work with local units of government to create local asset management plans and submit the plans to the infrastructure council,” said Victory, of Hudsonville. “This legislation brings Michigan one step closer to fixing our infrastructure and keeping our communities safe.”Members will serve three-year terms without direct compensation.The Water Asset Management Council is required to submit an annual report regarding water asset conditions and the impact of investments. The council will prepare an annual report to the Legislature and to the Michigan Infrastructure Council that details the activities of the council and the money spent related to water assets.One member will represent the county drain commissioners, and one will have a degree and experience in engineering.House Bill 5406 now moves to the full House for consideration.### 13Mar Committee approves Rep.
