Juba League expels Bogra rape accused Tufans brother Matin

first_imgMatin SarkerRuling Bangladesh Awami League’s (AL) youth wing Juba League on Tuesday expelled its Bogra town unit joint general secretary Matin Sarker over the rape charge against his younger brother Tufan Sarker.Tufan Sarker, also the Bogra town unit convener of  Sramik League, another affiliate organisation of the ruling party,  allegedly raped a girl student on 17 July, alluring her with assurances of ensuring her admission to an undergraduate college.Juba League general secretary Harunur Rashid confirmed Prothom Alo of Matin’s expulsion. He said Matin Sarker has been expelled for his involvement in various “immoral activities”.Read more: Two brothers control Bogra crime worldIt is to be noted that the daily Prothom Alo came up with a news report today, Tuesday, that the two brothers – Tufan Sarker and Matin Sarker – allegedly control the crime world in Bogra.Matin Sarker is also the general secretary of the Bogra District Truck Owners Association.Locals and party insiders said the two brothers have recently emerged as masterminds of various types of crimes like drug peddling, murder, extortion, and land grabbing in Bogra town and its adjacent areas and through various illegal means, they have become millionaires almost overnight.Read more: Ruling party’s Bogra leader rapes adolescent girlRapid Action Battalion (RAB) has listed Matin Sarker as a drug peddler and he is accused in nine cases – four of them are for murder. Matin was sentenced to imprisonment for 27 year in an arms case, but the verdict was stayed by the High Court.Police has also arrested Matin four times on different charges, RAB twice, and Joint Forces once.last_img
