first_imgGo back to the enewsletterAnother strike at the Croatian shipyard where Australian travel company Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours is building its first ever oceangoing luxury yacht, has seen builders down tools once again.Scenic has already suffered three major delays for its ultra-luxury ship, Scenic Eclipse. The 228-guest vessel was initially earmarked to launch on 31 August 2018, but as a result of chaos and industrial action at the Uljanik shipyard, that date was most recently revised to 15 August, 2019 – just four-and-a-half months away.Last week’s strike at the Uljanik shipyard was related to issues between the union of the shipyard workers and the Croatian government, a Scenic spokesperson told LATTE.“It was not related to Scenic Eclipse, but access to our ship was temporarily halted,” the spokesperson said.“However our workers are now back at work and returning to full production. As Scenic Eclipse is scheduled to go into drydock shortly for its final finishes, this issue should not affect the completion of work nor the first sailing in mid-August,” Scenic told LATTE.Guests wanting to book on Scenic Eclipse‘s amended inaugural launch voyage – “Across the Atlantic” between from Reykjavik to Quebec City – still have plenty of options to chose from, with Scenic’s online reservations system showing availability for Deluxe Verandah Suite and Grand Deluxe Verandah Suites on Decks 5, 6, 7 and 8, as well as Spa Suites on decks 8 and 9.Lead image: Scenic Eclipse at the Uljanik ShipyardGo back to the enewsletterlast_img read more
